In March 2007, I went to Yuk Yuks as an amateur comedian to watch the amazing Nikki Payne on stage. I arrived a bit early, and there was Nikki – right out there in public without bodyguards or ANYTHING! Being that my Mom encouraged talking to strangers, I bounded up to Nikki, offered my hand and said, “Hi! I’m Lori. Wanna be best friends?” She replied, “Sure! Wanna piece of my Twix bar?” I love that our friendship began with the kind of statements six-year olds make.

Here we are, almost 5 years later and I’m going to open for her at her Calgary & Edmonton shows! I’ve thought about it long and hard and have decided you must come.
